The National AI Strategy sets a ten-year plan to make the UK ‘the best place to live and work with AI’ by combining investment, diffusion and governance into a single framework. It frames artificial intelligence as ‘the fastest growing deep technology in the world’ with potential to transform ‘all areas of life,’ while emphasising that maximising this potential is a ‘top-level economic, security, health and wellbeing priority.’ The strategy rests on three core aims: investing in people, data, compute and finance; supporting a transition to an AI-enabled economy across all sectors and regions; and getting national and international governance ‘right’ to encourage innovation and protect fundamental values.  It commits to an AI Action Plan, a pro-innovation regulatory White Paper and a standards-led governance model, and has since been operationalised through the 2022 AI Action Plan, the 2023 ‘pro-innovation’ regulation White Paper and the 2025 AI Opportunities Action Plan.
